  • Captain Scott, when I was flying yesterday, the ceiling was really low, OVC and the wind was quite gusty. It seemed like I had to wrestle to keep the nose up almost the whole pattern. I was wondering, Is that a good time to use the trim and how often can and should it be used? My instructor makes it look so easy, I was just preoccupied and never really asked him.

  • @shaindaman13 Any time you make a power change, use the trim. Anytime you change the pitch, use the trim. Use it any time there is pressure on the controls. It makes flying a lot easier.

  • Can you tell me where i can do this course of flying? and its cost? please tell me? this is my child hood dream???

  • @yoursarslan Google "flight training" and the name of the city you live in...Have fun....

  • man i wish she was my lady wow.

  • @shaindaman13 Sometimes pilots have to be aggressive with the yoke/rudder to keep the aircraft steady, especially during turbulent weather. If your aircraft is developing a tendency to go nose up or down then you should adjust the trim SLOWLY. But if the winds are so bad that you need both hands on the yoke, keep 'em there.

  • Trimming the a/c is so important.. I was not shown how to use the trim correctly originally and I was always droping height (+/-100 ft) in all my nav's.. Once i actually spent the time to focus on it and kept re-trimming life was so much easier.. good to see introduction early in flight training on trimming the a/c.

  • just got hired by a local flight school at KPAE maybe I will see @askcaptainscott around the pattern!

  • @askcaptainscott Thanks for the reply. I hope someone will take your offer. I plan to take lessons some day and will see if my time in the sim helps any.
