The rank of Fellow is the highest recognition that the NASA Ames Research Center can bestow upon one of its own for a lifetime of intellectual accomplishments. The Fellows are an elite group of Ames people who have built a global reputation for excellence in their scientific and engineering research.

The 2012 Ames Fellow Inductees include Dr. Louis J. Allamandola, Dr. Wayne R. Johnson, Dr. Baruch S. Blumberg and Dr. Hans Mark.

Dr. Hans Mark is a leading expert in the fields of aerospace design and national defense policy. From 1969 to 1977 Dr. Mark served as Director of the NASA Ames Research Center. Under his leadership, NASA Ames developed world-class research in tiltrotor development, supercomputing, computational fluid dynamics, airborne astronomy and led the Pioneer 10 mission to Jupiter and the Pioneer 11 mission to Saturn.

    Modmom...thanks for attending the event! Hope you had a good time. One small correction, if you don't mind. While NASA Ames was established in 1958 (that's when Congress created the National Aeronautics and Space Agency) the research center was actually established in 1939 as the second laboratory of the National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics, and was named for the chair of the NACA, Joseph S. Ames. So, we've been long-time residents of the area! :)
