Africa's Democratization and the Role of Opposition Parties
Ruling parties, especially in Africa, may seldom acknowledge the contributions of the opposition. Opposition parties in Uganda and Ethiopia operate under severe constraints, and in Sudan they can resume activity only at the consent of the government. But opposition parties stress the importance of voting, encouraging citizens to vote in large numbers and to make informed decisions.
On the next Straight Talk Africa, host Shaka Ssali and his guests will take a closer look at how opposition parties play a significant role in the democratic process in Africa. Join us for a live, one-hour discussion on radio and television from the Voice of America.
