Vinyl will survive because it has become the main audiophile format. Given a good system, vinyl will beat CDs and downloads hands down in sound quality. Vinyl mastering is generally MUCH better than mastering on digital formats as well.

You can't beat vinyl. What i love about records is not only is the record in a sleeve with enough room for some amazing art work but that the music is physically in the vinyl,actually pressed into it, I mean it's there, in the grooves! Analogue is far far superior to digital.Vinyl isn't more expensive to produce, it's just that plastic CD's are cheaper, so now markets have goten people to associate the word Analogue with something old and out of fashion and thats not 'cool' to todays genaration!

@djskizmarkey There are a few good ones around here. Check out the Newbury Comics Norwood location for vinyl. They have a vinyl section that will take you back to shopping in record stores before the compact disc was invented. Also check out Looney Tunes across from Berkeley School of Music, In Your Ear Records in Harvard Square and a location across from The Paradise on Comm Ave. Do a Google search for used record stores in Boston and you will find vinyl. Thank you for keeping my favorite kind of store alive. There is nothing like shopping for records and I just wish that there were more vinyl shops in the Boston area. A lot of the shops of the past 35 years are gone. There are some left but not much. Anyways, thanks for all the info on vinyl collecting as well.
