I truly don't think you know what practicing a religion is from what you have given us. For instance Catholics don't just get close to God by partaking in the Eucharist. Your logic is atrocious. Pretty simple answer. The pride you are displaying in your own thinking is the same pride that even the religous have. Therefore they elevate their own thinking rather than submitting to the one church that can be traced back 2000 years to Christ and his followers. It's called the one, holy, Catholic, apostolic Church. Check out the writings of the Church Fathers. They were Catholic. Go to any encyclopedia and see the line of popes back to Peter.

You are right of course. Religion is above t he created world in which human logic exists. Religion is not illogical but it cannot be proven with logic because it's elements are not of this realm. It's like trying to prove the existence of quarks with a calculator.  The calculator gives true results and is good in as far as it goes. But it is not the tool to prove quarks. In religion one must see with the eyes of faith, which is above the physical.

As I said before To glorify themselves. It could have also been like with the Egyptions. They built hudge monuments. So if people came to their land they would see the statuches and would not want to overturn them as a nation and take over. It's a inferior tactek so to speak. To seem as if they are the best ever.
