Shows that the "brothers of Jesus" refered to in the gospels are not the biological brothers of jesus but rather, most likely cousins.

  • Acts 1;14" "these (the disciples) ...with the women, and Mary, the mother of Jesus (note: NOT Mary, the mother of God), and with his brethren"

Acts 1;15 " And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples, and said, the number of names together were about an hundred and twenty"

Verse 15 is not the same occasion as verse 14 obviously or it would not say "in those days"

  • @southwoodside

it was the same group of people in the upper room which numbered 120

  • Ok so you proved that an uncle and nephew relation could have meant brother in the old testament but then you made the leap that cousins could be refferred to as brothers as well without any scripture showing that, my bible has the word cousin in it Luke 1:36 Luke 1:58 so if they were indeed his cousins then why wouldn't they just use that word?

  • Before I continue my reflections on this issue, I must say that I have a strong conviction for a huge possibility for those Brothers and Sisters mentioned in Matthew 13:55-58 can be Joseph's sons and daughters, this is a strong possibility instead to be only their relatives, so let's read these verses.

These are some words from my last post. If you want to read more, google "The Perfume of GOD" quotation included.

  • JJewizorjay: Your first mistake is presuming you know the mind of God. How can you explain history? Of course not. You intend to explain Jesus'life using logic when you could not possibly explain history using the same standard of proof. You cannot have it both ways.

  • Why would god have a man marry a woman that he could never mate with? this would effectively end that mans blood line. A somewhat torturous life for a man who has done nothing but god will wouldn't you say?

Think about it logically, if god loves us all the same then why would Joseph be subject to a life without fully having a wife?

  • @barryflintoff1 I already said she was blessed, and she was indeed. She wasn't, however , devine. She doesn't have power to forgive sins in the capacity of Christ, and was not taken up in the same manner as our Lord. Jesus did indeed have half brothers and sisters. Quite putting the focus on these issues and embrace the truth of Christ alone.

  • @ShieldsofFaith Mary bore her own creator in her womb, that makes her far from ordinary, infact it makes her extraordinary. Are you claiming that Mary did not hear the word of God and keep it? ' Behold the handmaid of the lord, let what you have said happen to me'.

  • @southwoodside Well Luke is written in Greek not Hebrew, and infact the Greek word means kinswoman not exactly the same as our word cousin its less precise than our word cousin.

  • According to the Jews Mary only have a son "Jesus",

  • @southwoodside For your information Jesus Christ is God, Always. Even before born in the planet earth, So Marry was carry a baby GOD. You like or not Jesus always exist as a GOD. Jesus was 100% man and 100% GOD. Jesus is forever GOD :)
