Professor Anton, are you familiar with Julian Jaynes' The Origin of Consciousness in the Breakdown of the Bicameral Mind?

I can't figure out the premise - how can the individual be a creation of imagination? If anything, stating that the individual is NOT a creation of imagination, that it's "part of a greater whole" or somesuch, seems to me to be utterly convulsed and abstract. Men will not stop thinking they are individuals until they start imagining a totality to which they are dependant

@invanorm You make a good point and I agree. Progress is never a straight line. There are always shortcomings. But from my perspective, the advantages out weigh any shortcomings by such a large margin, I find it strange to be bringing it up as some sort of ideal or in a positive light. I may have been over reacting. BTW, there are green anarchists/ anarcho-primitivist youtubers. (people who oppose "civilization").

@DeraJa No need to be offended. Just because a person has a sympathy for the postion of Rousseau doesn't mean they take it all the way. Money, division of labor, and agriculture are all exellent things. However every pro coincides with a con. Simply emphasizing the cons for the sake of discussion does not mean that the person truly beleives that they outway the pros. If they did they wouldn't be using YouTube.

wow the last 2 mins blew my mind
I still feel we should stress the individual for economics and such. Other things still sound immoral to me. Unless you can prove to me that slavery doesn't exist. Then my head might really explode.
