Jacob Hacker, The Architect of ObamaCare and the Public Option in making his case, admits that this idea is a covert route to a Single Payer System. Don't you just love how they'll "let us keep" our current options? How blatantly totalitarian!

  • People would still have been able to buy private insurance through the individual market if a public option had passed. Less people would have private insurance but it wouldn't be completely gone.

  • @mfiorell BULL!!!!

They would kill private insurance by the ability to regulate it into unprofitability AND their monopsony pricing power over Hospitals, Drug Companies, Medical device makers and Physicians (listed in that order because THAT IS where the money goes).

  • @SandmanSB2008 Private companies don't have this power and can be undercut

  • Rash...

You say "you forget every other industrialiszed nation has nationalized healthcare..."

Well, good for them... If there healthcare is so damn good, then why do they come here to have major procedures?? (ie. Canada's PM heart surgery).

  • A modicum of HONESTY would be nice, but of course it's easier to deceive than convince.

  • The key words in his statment, "we will let them keep their insurance if their empoyer continues to provide it."

The whole point is of course employers are going to dump quality health insurance for governement managed and rationed healthcare.

  • @MsMx775 Where you aware that Øbamacare is just a rehash of a communist plan to take over the energy industry? Back in the 80s the Midwest Academy (a socialist training ground attended by both Michelle and Barrack) proposed a Gov't corporation to "compete" with private energy providers that would provide energy to poor families. They knew then what they know now, with tax and regulatory authority the Gov't corp would soon control the entire industry.

  • fuck obama and his terrible healthcare plan

  • @mfiorell

By the way, it is an easily provable fact that things are more expensive now that Obama-care has started to take effect. Look at any company's rates and how much they have increased. What a shock! Except, of course, for those companies that received wavers from the regulations. And congress, who neatly exempted themselves from the law as well.

  • @mfiorell

You want to give healthcare away "free," meaning take money from the "rich" which is really the middle class when you look at how it works out (it's complicated, so I can't explain here), and give it to those who expect the handout and do not earn it. That is communism. Specifically Leninism, as Lenin was the one who believed in a big powerful government to enforce his equal distribution and so on.

  • @mfiorell

your math must be wrong. factor in the high taxes that it costs to run their substandard healthcare, AND the RATIONING that takes place in places like Britain, where people die from perfectly curable conditions or diseases because they're sent home without the proper tests. Or where mothers give birth in hospital hallways or at home. The number of people in that kind of situation in tiny England is far greater than the number of Americans going to Singapore, or wherever else.

  • @BattleFitReno The rest of the world has less expensive healthcare than we do and they have more government involvement, so I don't know how you came to that conclusion.

  • @mfiorell

If the richest people who can afford to go anywhere they want choose America, it must be the best quality around.

If you have a problem with costs in America, you might try freeing up the ridiculous regulations such as not letting insurance companies sell across state lines. Or kicking out all the illegals visiting ERs for the sniffles. Or tort reform.

Your apparent solution is to INCREASE costs by getting the gov involved, and long story short, you want communism in healthcare.

  • @BattleFitReno Tell that to the Americans who go to Singapore and India for surgery because they can't afford it. Medical tourism will always exist in every system. Europe puts people on waiting lists, while we price people out of the market and lead them to bankruptcy. And you know people in Britain, Canada, etc. are fat too. We're the fattest but in order to account for lifestyle you can't just exclude our unhealthy people without excluding the unhealthy people in other country.
