  • @24jackbauer10 The real name of the city is Doire Cholmcille, if you really want to go into it.

Translate that to English, and you get "The Oak Wood of Colmcille". I don't see any mention of London there.

If you want to shorten the name, you get either Doire or Colmcille. I don't see any mention of London. If you want to bastardise those to sound English, you get either Derry, or Colm's Kills (or some shit). Again, no London.

    Also note, "Derry City Council"

  • @Fullmetal132 lmao "hey you guys stop arguing". fuck off yank who asked you don't you have some babies to kill in the desert?

The best explanation of culture in Northern Ireland iv seen in a long time on youtube.. Its just a pity that so many people dont get what your saying.

The prominence of beginning scuffles on youtube is beyond my understanding. The constant jibes aimed at people are crazy and silly..

Fair play for the explanation.. Intelligence and knowing your history and other countries history means understanding and actuall conversations can happen.. Cheers :-)

  • all counties in ireland are irish a piece of paper does not make the six counties british

  • @TheGreatDefective That is an opinion not a fact, should Irish cities now start with a German name since they now dominate Ireland?

  • @Flamorgan Doire Cholmcille Londain, because London is just a suffix to show domination.

  • @TheGreatDefective Translate Londonderry to Irish and what do you get?

  • Thanks to everybody for proving that 50% of people are more stupid than average.

  • I love this! xx

  • I don't think Derek would appreciate the 'Irish' in the title.

  • @louietheduke "stoved in" - prot slang it is. Caths would say "shovelled in" in the same context, Hope this helps.

Like the "an' don't be going near the post office, I'm g'ing there nex" bit too.
