This, say the doomsayers, could send economies spinning into turmoil and up-end our comfortable, urban lifestyles. But others claim predictions like this are simply scaremongering. They believe supply will match demand for decades to come. So who's telling the truth? 'Peak Oil' investigates.

@Clausewitzz you have to think about Europe is much smaller than North America. In Europe, cities are much more condensed together. most cars in Europe are smaller but they don't have to drive much because their transportation is sufficient. Here, everywhere is far apart so we have to drive longer. it is just not sufficient. you know that the entire European continent can fit in to North America. These are just some of the reasons that European consumption of oil is lower.

This is what they want is it not? Otherwise the oil companies wouldn't have bought up every patent on alternative technologies to the internal cumbustion gas engine for the last 100 years.

Over 8$ a gal is also a big reason why on average a person in Europe uses less then half the ammount of oil per year then a person in the US does.

And quality of life surely isnt better in the US.

oil will run out by 2057. Last time then we will witness the closure of an oil field. Peak is in past time. Within 5-8 years we shall realise

People wake up if we use our raw materials faster than it can be replenish it's only a matter of time and we are talking about fossil fuel here, which species would be around to dig us up as fossil fuel.
