  • Wow she makes it sound so Easy! Ms. Swenswon is absolutely amazing and it is indeed true that she has not received the credit that she rightfully deserves! Fleming...take note! This is how is done!!!

  • Its her Act I entrance, singing "Adieu, mon beau rivage......."

  • love this woman

  • Here Ruth Ann is in her glorious prime and singing beautifully and sensibly. She has been badly advised of late.

  • So...does anyone know the name of this aria? I downloaded her performance, but don't have the name to list it under lol.

  • I heard Ruthy in Dallas back in the 90's singing Lucia and let me tell you it is not a small voice. SHe could get those high notes small but some much ring and the final high Eflat was BIG!

  • Wonderful. I saw Ruth twenty years ago in a small theater in Los Angeles. She sang Baby Doe and was superb.

I was surprised to learn that she also sang in big houses like the Met. Seemed to me her voice was perfect but small.

Yes, the costume designer should be shot w/ something as silly as that dress. Maybe a pop gun.

    Tx 4 posting.

  • Actually, it's really interesting that you mention her placement. Sometimes to me, she sounds pinched because she brings the sound too forward, and other times she sounds like she pulls far too back and the tone sounds swallowed. I don't know if I'd say she has the best sound since Sutherland. Even Sutherland had placement problems when she went high.

  • Interesting! What is it about her sound that you don't like. I've always loved her, but I think that she sounds placed a bit too far back sometimes. There are times where I would swear that she had the best sound since Sutherland too though.

  • Okay, although I'm not really a fan of her sound, I will say that she's quite the proficient, and that's something I've always admired about her.

PS the costume designer should be shot!
