Domain hoarding is very common, specially on domains that are registered under other tld's, no matter if they are relevant to the content or not.

Where did you pay that much for a domain registration? You could use Godaddy, NameCheap, Dynadot, Moniker and hundreds of other places where you could find domains for $10 or less. I register them for $7.05 a year . That is much less than you paid for, even if it was a 5 year registration
