@louizjj AWS is a job (rate) all it's own. Other people can be qualified to help out during man overboard but it IS it's own rate. I work at HSC-25, been in the Navy for a few years now and it most definitely is a rate which you go to school for directly out of boot. I'm an AS and almost all aviation rates go to school in Pensacola. So no, it's not an add on, and it is a specific job (rate).

@Captus15 Yeah captus rescue swimmers are aircrewman. You must complete aircrew training school before entering RSS. It's been awhile since I went through, but when I was there they were both held at NAS pensacola and even shared the same barracks. It was right across the street from AOCS. Generally rescue swimmers have a main job and only put on there rescue swimmer hat during times of need be. I can't answer for coast guard, but i'm pretty sure those guys are rescue swimmers 100% of the time.

I want to be a rescue swimmer but i got a question, Rescue Swimmers are Aircrewmens too? I mean if they are in the aircraf always and not only when they will rescue a man in the water?

I am enlisted as an Aircrewman. I think being a rescue swimmers is really cool but I don't fit in that job. I can swim but not really as good as the SAR requirments...
I decided to be an AW Aviation warfare symtems operator. I hope I will get that job. I enlist in the Aircrew bcaz I want to do more than just a job.
Hopefully someday I can make it to the SEALs...

Bro, be honest. How many CSAR rescues has the Navy made, in fact when was the last time a navy crewman got an actual CSAR rescue? I honestly would like to make 20-30 rescues in a career than train for some thing cool and never do it.
