Apne Aap and The Emancipation Network Boat Trip

The following video is a very rough edit from our volunteer team in Kolkata, India. Sitting here in the US and editing this is both wonderful and tough. I know these kids and adults well, and its been more than three years since Ive seen them outside the red light district they live in, so I'm a bit jealous I'm not there.

The westerners in the video are our Team India 2009 volunteers. Most of the other adults and children are from Apne Aap, with a of our Destiny team there from ABWU. I wish I could show you the contrast of what their home lives are like, because these happy kids will be returning to Kidderpore, to their 8x8 one room houses to hide under the bed while their mothers serve clients. If it were not for Apne Aap they would have no future, but many of these kids, especial those in the TEN Charities school sponsorship program have the chance at a normal life. We have hired two of the WIP mothers into Destiny as a test program, and hope to hire more of them as Destiny grows (WIP=Women in Prostitution)
