For me he is currently the best german singer ! (Kaufmann is not bad too and Juliane Banse) They are intelligent with their interpretations and everything what they do is perfect! BRAAAAAAVO! He is a real international STAR from germany!

of course Christoff was one of the best basses this world has ever seen, but in my opinion Ghiaurov beets everybody as Philipp and Don Basilio ;)
But hey it would be really boring if everybody prefers the same singers.

Although I love Rene Pape and I simply adore his dark voice which is (in my opinion) one of the best (if not the best) we have nowadays, I think that nobody will ever be able to reach the great Nicolai Ghiaurov.
