Sega's first versus fighting game was Heavyweight Champ, released in 1976, but boxing games don't count. After Capcom's Street Fighter II became successful, Sega started with Dark Edge, then Holosseum, Burning Rival, the Eternal Champions series, Cosmic Carnage and Golden Axe - The Duel.
