Ululation with Tibetan Singing Bowls

http://www.frankperry.co.uk A demonstration of the technique of Ululation with Tibetan Singing Bowls from 1995 at Aberdeen Spiritualist Church with Frank Perry. Frank was taught this technique by Tibetologist Dr. Alain Presencer in 1982 who said that he had been shown it by a Bonpo lama whilst travelling in TIbet. The cavity of the mouth is used to amplify the tones of the bowl - a similar motion to that used in Mongolian throat singing - no sound is made by the player. This is a short extract from a long workshop and is taken from the question and answers section at the close of the workshop. Frank has found that there are specific bowls that are excellent for this technique and they always carry the same designs upon their outside. This is an unusual application of this technique being as here it involves stroking the bowl whilst ululating whereas it more typically involves striking a bowl. Infact, it is more of a Male bowl.
