On March 15 2006, James Madison University invited Oscar-winning actor and James Madison fan Richard Dreyfuss to speak about the Constitution's author and his assertion that "Knowledge is Liberty."
(BONUS: To the suprise of the University and community, Richard and his fiance waltzed into the county court house in Harrisonburg and tied the knot later that weekend)
Dreyfuss' speech kicked off the ongoing two-year campaign (leading up to JMU's Centennial Celebration in 2008) dedicated to inspiring students, faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and other constituents to honor the legacy of James Madison's revolutionary ideas.
BE THE CHANGE celebrates the "Madison Experience" at JMU and illustrates how the University is transforming the power of knowledge into civic engagement around the globe.
Winner of the 2006 CASE III Award of Excellence.
