This is my senior year animation degree project. It's an autobiographical account of my year living in a small rural town in the South. I had moved there after graduating from pharmacy school to try and make extra money in order to pay off my student loans (much like the main character from my favorite show, "Northern Exposure"). Hilarity and misunderstanding ensues.

Music composed by Nate Donmoyer.

(Note: this film is not meant to be taken as slander towards Southern people or the South in general. It is based on my own personal experience living in one particular town. I also met some kind people while there, and I have also experienced ignorance and racism while living in the Northeast.)

  • i enjoyed it not only because it was realistic but only cause it has an element of experience that can be the only teacher to anyone

  • she didn't say it was the "south" did she? could of been va. or worse w.va.

You did a great job with the film!

there are some back woods places with people who lack brains!

  • I really enjoyed this.

  • Keep it up!!!

  • that was really good

  • OK, so I was looking for Southern Exposure by Henri Cartier-Bresson but I came across you animation a thoroughly enjoyed it. Made me LOL. Well done!

  • Awesome!

  • To be fair, a lot of these residents you encountered are just simple folk who are too busy trying to get by living to even care about learning of other cultures. You've already gotten much further than life than they'll ever get anyway, so don't let it get to you.

Absolutely amazing work, by the way. I'm an aspiring illustrator myself:)

  • Great animated film! Really funny! Chien is quite a rare family name too.

  • This is one of the most amazing animated films Ive seen!
