No she's not dead. This video is a tribute to her devotion. Formerly known as Gayatri, Sw. Amritaprana is one of Amma's earliest disciples. I wish I was able to do a better video, but this was back when I was having alot of computer crashing problems until I finally located the cause. So it's not as synced as I would have liked.

Some people see her in California going for darshan, and some people have reported seeing her in NY City. As far as I know, she hasn't gone back as being part of the ashram, but I could be wrong.

Very touching video that accurately reflects Gayatri's feelings for Amma. Alas, Gayatri is no longer with Amma. I really miss her. Amma once said that she loved Gayatri so much she wouldn't have let her body be taken to the cremation grounds had Gayatri died. Amma was grief stricken in 1999 when Gaytri dropped her colors and fled to Maui. It happened shortly after Nirmala Amritia died and I think that death played a part in Gayatri leaving. Nasty Lakshmi Amma's negativity didn't help either.

I'm not a swami. It's more likely you saw Swamini Krishna. Gayatri would have blondish hair, while Swi. Krishna darker hair. Both with Austrailian/New Zealandish accents. Swi. Krishna has been in charge of the bookstore while on tour, and Amma's attendant as well. This is what I don't like about information about Gayatri is that it's not 'solid', too much like Elvis sightings. I think Gayatri is a bit taller than Swi. Krishna, but I could be wrong.

She was in her usual role in San Ramon and also working in the store there. It was so reassuring seeing he there
