  • Nobody like Furtwängler could conduct Wagner's music this way, he's definitely the best. A genius conducting a genius. He makes you even forget the enviroment around his orchestra.

  • F. was in a tough spot--he might have gone to a concentration camp himself--but he flew under the radar, kept his job, and probably saved some Jewish musican lives. Toscanini fled and railed against F.--really, then, WHO is the braver person?

  • Furtwangler is definitely my favorite conductor. So full of color and life. The best interpretations of Wagner and Strauss I've ever heard, no question.

  • Adolf Hitler ist meine uber, uber , uber oncle. ich bin jetzt 69 jahre alt

  • @TheCTConservative They just defendet their country against international capitalists. There are so many proofs that they wanted war to destroy germany.

  • @pt45g46 Fürtwangler was great man. He save many Jews from death, and fight in his own way against the nazism. He hated Hitler and was "destroyed" by the nazism. he thought several times about the suicide. He didn't benefited anything under the Nazi regime, it is the opposite. You're just showing your ignorance about this great man.

  • Today, the workers would be overjoyed if rapstar P-Diddy performed at their work places. What does that tell you about civilization today...

  • FARTWRANGLER!!

  • A few notes of Wagner, and the Holocaust is forgiven--utterly!

A Holocaust here and there is a paltry fee indeed for the pinnacle of human genius--Wagner, Beethoven, and Bach!

  • @pt45g46

Why should a famous conductor stopp doing his passion just because there is a system which does not fit with his own preferences? He was able to protect a lot of jews just because he stayed at his position.Otherwise they would have been deported but Furtwängler used his reputation to safe a lot of musicians. To do nothing would have been the worst thing he could have done!

All big american companies have benefited under the nazi regime. You should think about that before saying that such musical masterminds like Karajan and Furtwängler had been nazis.Your country benefited under every war in the world like no other!!!The reason for the power of america is that it always let other countries fight until they've been outburned and than the USA,or should I say the country of humanity, got involved..and surprise surprise america had prevailed!
