I decided at the last minute to go to Sterkfontein Dam when I saw good wind forecast and the GPS speed sailing site announced that GPS records were now possible.
I got there late due to a morning meeting and bad traffic leaving Joburg, but still caught the tail end of the wind just after 3pm.
The wind averaged in the upper teens and the occassional gust reached the mid-20's, so I was very pleased to clock a 46.1 knot peak and 42.5 average.
Had I arrived a few hours earlier when the wind was blowing 35, I'm sure a 50 peak would have been possible.

I wore 2 GT-31 GPS's and a helmet cam to verify the speeds.
