The legendry Ghazal singer from Pakistan, Iqbal Bano (1935-2009) passed away on April 21, 2009. She was 74 years. She was the first ever female Ghazal singer in Pakistan and "Dasht-e-tanhai mein..." was her all time super hit ghazal. She also sang some evergreen film ghazal's as:
1) Payl mein geet hayn chamm chham kay (film Gumnam - 1953)
2) Ulfat ki neyi manzil ko chala (film Qatil - 1955)
3) Sitaro tum to so jao, preshan raat sari hay (Ishq-e-Laila - 1956)
4) Ab kay sawan to Sajan ghar aa ja (Nagain - 1959)

she was one of my favourite,,she was really on top of her game which was how to sing a ghazal,,i like all her ghazals but i like to listen the most wuold be,,dagh dil hm ko yad ane lage,,,,god bless her soul,,legend lady,,big lost i really am upset rite now ,,,rest in peace bano jii

it was my dream to see her singing, i came here searching for her songs i didnt know she passed away and when i saw this video i was shocked, i just cried
