The south lunaticss are putting out bat shit crazy distortions to cover up the bat - shit crazy Nazi mentality they had.
The Confederacy was BASED on slavery - its own leaders said. Not just based on slavery - but based on spreading the "great moral truth: of slavery "throughout the civilized world"".
Sadly we are not taught anything about the extremism of the Nazi like south. But if you read their OWN words and their OWN Declarations of Secession - you can learn a lot.
The north deliberately starved our soldiers. THEY refused to ransom for their own while maintaining a blockade which denies the Confederacy ample medicinal supplies.
The fault is with you, not us. We carried ourselves accordingly and you executed Major Wirz and others to cover up for your own ruthlessness.
I probably wouldn't care if you weren't such hypocrites about it.
1. Yes your right to your first comment . 2. Some where not fed for trying to escape or insubordination and if they wanted to eat and they were around other prisoners i'm sure they ate .Also there is a war going on why wouldn't we blockade the south ? Should we have allowed them at that time free trade with the world so that they could finance there rebellion and inflict more death and destruction upon our great nation use some common sense . 3. The South wanted it that way and they got it!
Don't talk about starving prisoners who you could have saved, who we had not the means to properly treat. Instead acknowledge that we did the best we could.
You'll get nowhere trying to condemn us, as your prison camp officers deliberately starved our soldiers.
In war, terrible things happen, but we are not uniquely guilty. In contrast, we fought as honorably as could be desired from any belligerent.
Actually it is a well known fact that starvation in the Union military camps was a prevelant issue. They hardly fed the people they did feed, so it is highly unlikely that "they did eat" even when they were around the other soldiers, unless of course you REALLY think that starving people would help to feed someone with their own limited rations. Did it EVER happen, ofcourse, but it wasn't as prevelant an act as starving them was.
can only gain trust and loyalty through diplomacy and negotiation period. It's amazing most americans are still stuck in this 19th century might makes right mentality. the rest of the world has moved on, we should too..
yup, you can't force people back into a voluntary union it's impossible, you can only occupy and try to brainwash them into somehow accepting that an invasive military campaign resulting in hundreds of thousands of deaths was somehow justified. The only way to do this is to cover up facts and only let people see what you want, because as always invading and murdering people because they disagree with you is wrong. You
