3/27/11 Both of my cats in a training session. Good chance to see some of the differences between a left brain introvert, Phoenix, and a right brain extrovert, Raptor. The Parelli Horsenalities are very useful for all animals, and can give you a lot of insight into how to tailor training. This link will give you a quick overview and a PDF chart.

Behaviors in video: sitting on buckets, sit pretty, dance, high five, go there, dead cat. This is a typical mealtime when I'm working with both cats. My boys are very clicker savvy at this point, and can readily distinguish who the click was meant for.

  • beautiful!but wild,and i think dangerous

  • @dannpenn - not at all dangerous. sensitive and different from a domestic, yes. but dangerous? not a bit.

  • @mrevillunchbox - all the time! Not sure what you mean?

  • Are you thinking SBT Bengal? The early generations are a completely different story - read the comments for the premack fetching video for some insight. ;)

  • @tugiel - both breeds are awesome. I've always had bengals but it was love at first sight with Phoenix, my Serengeti. The best advice, always, is to do your research on breeders, and visit a few of them. It's difficult not to make a kneejerk emotional decision and take the first cute little fuzzy spotted kitten, but I firmly believe that the right kitten chooses the right owner. :)

  • Once a behavior is shaped, it's really difficult to show the process. I have the entire process of teaching Raptor the Basketball behavior documented, and eventually will get around to editing a video. It's just a matter of finding lots of time to do it. :)

I just started shaping Raptor to balance on top of a ball, and am recording that process as well. One thing I considered was instead of editing a video when the behavior is finished, to simply post each training session.

  • -.- omg woman! give them some love!

  • Wow your really good with cats, I mean i wish all other trainers were'nt idiots that think all the cat does is just sit and meow, and they treat her badly and start complaining on how quickly it dies...-_- anyways i wanted a professional advice on what to buy..a bengal or a serengeti ? i like serengeti because there active and stuff..and they have the longest les (based on cats 101) but bengals look much cooler and stuff...im just confused. id really apreciate it if u helped thnx :3

  • Can you post a video of how you actually started teaching them these behaviors?

  • I haven't generalized "dance" in enough locations yet. Right now I still want him throwing it at me.
