The Spikes Tactical .22lr upper receiver uses the magazine follower to catch the bolt upon firing the last round. As soon as the mag drops the bolt shuts forward.

A normal AR15 has a real bolt catch, this .22lr setup relies on the magazine follower to "catch"

it is the same as CMMG's first gen .22lr conversion. Check out CMMG they have EVO2 now it actually works with AR-15 bolt catch.

well a ar 15 .223 mag uses the magazine follower also to catch but it just uses the magazine follower
