You can only use WHAT MORMONS ACTUALLY BELIEVE being their CANON in any argument against them. Especially when you present their beliefs, because THEIR BELIEFS FIRST AND FOREMOST ARE NOT BASED ON SECOND HAND INFORMATION but on THEIR CANNON which is:
The Holy Bible (King James Version)
The Book of Mormon
Doctrine and Covenants
Pearl of Great Price
NOTHING ELSE. If there is a "new revelation" it will be amended to:
Doctrine and Covenants
Through a process known as "common consent". Common consent is God's way of making it known to all the church.
Books and Historical documents such as:
Journal of Discourses
Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith
History of the Church
General Conferences
Any Church publication that is not quoting the Cannon
...any statement made by any Mormon that is not in concordance with their cannon
All of these should not be given the weight of scripture where they deviate therefrom. We don't "turn to fables" when speaking about Mormons.
As a lifelong mormon I've had to defend the honor and dignity of my church many times. I love it with all my heart. It assists people to become better husbands, sons, daughters, mothers, brothers, sisters, neighbors and citizens. I have never been forced to believe anything. For those who think it's their business to try to persuade others to disbelieve mormons, and to discredit them, I ask myself - what are their motives? Do they have anything better to offer? No they do not.

"After two centuries, every nation in the world except six have adopted written constitutions, and the United States Constitution was the model for all of them," said Elder Oaks in his keynote address at Friday night's Constitution Day Celebration at the Salt Lake Tabernacle. "Consequently, if we abandon or weaken its fundamental principle, we betray our own national ideals, and we also weaken our global neighbors.". . .

SALT LAKE CITY -- Calling the United States Constitution this country's most important export, Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the LDS Church defined the Constitution's four great fundamentals and called on the American public to better understand and support it.

is it reality that joseph smith was a martyr?Nope mormon myth... Joseph Smith vandalized an establishment and was jailed for, among other things, bigotry. When a mob came to kill him, he shot three people then made a masonic distress signal and commited suicide by jumping out the window after being shot. A martyr is a person who offers his life WILLINGLY for god. Joseph smith didn't he killed 2 people injured another and then committed suicide which means hes in hell.

“The final piece, the underlying divine principle that will help us succeed in these eternal roles and responsibilities, [slide 22] is faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in His divine plan of happiness. The Lord always desires to help us, but we must turn to Him for that help. We do not have to do this alone,” said Sister Brown.

President Wheelwright continued, “The third pattern we suggest you practice and make a habit is serving others. Successful marriage and childrearing require countless acts of service, from both husband and wife. My father, happily married to my mother for over 70 years, used to say that ‘having a 50/50 marriage never works; only a 100% marriage can succeed!’ In other words, if each of you think of the other, help the other, and serve the other 100% of the time, you will be happy.”
