  • The World Association Of Bench Pressers and Deadlifters(WABDL)

  • I think the difference is my back gives out, near the start, making my hips and back be out of optimal position by almost 2". The remedy, and this sounds contradictory,

is to almost arch the lower back on the descent and keep the back relatively straight throughout the lift.

  • I uploaded another DL technique video

and I spoke on that. My opinion is that

arching puts undo stress on the lower back. So I agree with you and I don't use an arch. However, I am always trying to improve. Again, no arch used in my technique and I don't recommend it.

  • So is there a difference between a powerlifting deadlift technique and bodybuilding?

  • A powerlifter lifts the weight in the easiest way possible, while the bodybuilder concentrates on activating the muscles

    as much as possible.

  • If that is you in the clip, bravo on your tremendous power. I got a clear sense of how much technique matters with such a seemingly simple lift. Also, you sounded like a jet pilot, inadvertently underscoring the technical aspect of the lift.

  • Thanks for the vid. Rounded back looks scary but I'd expect you'd be able to lift more.
