There are other singers who have great Fs... But this! This is a bell chime by golly!

  • wow! she's like Popp's crystal-ness and edda moser's power and fury! awesome!

  • This is indescribable. I cannot understand such agility paired with the tremendous weight and power of her voice. It astonishes me.

And who cares if she does a glottal stop or even a gargle... just listen to the glory of it! Cherish these recordigs because it's unlikely you'll hear a voice like hers again. She's positively extraterrestrial.

  • De beste rache die ik ooit gehoord heb. Brava Christina!

  • I found it a little stronger with Moser, but I really love her staccato at 1:54

I've not heard it in any other interpretation! :)

  • Bajeczne i przepiekne wykonanie !!! Faboulos ...Sagenhaft.

  • Absolute faboulos!! This aria is the Hölle!! She does it with perfection!!

  • there are actually quite a few experts agreeing Deutekom is the best Koenigin der Nacht... can we disagree with them? ;)

  • But Bartoli is a mezzo-soprano and Deutekom is a very special kind of soprano. There are not so many voices as she had! Maybee Agnes Baltza? This kind of voice they called an accuto sfocato! Exelent for Mozart high parts of music!

  • @tomasburi Well..I don't know. All I know is that the formal discription of 'coup de glotte' does not match what Deutekom (or Bartoli) seems to be doing.

  • @edgarbiervliet Bartoli. I think the slight difference is caused by different voice type and the fact that Deutekom mastered this technique a bit better. Deutekom's voice is old-type voice, clear, clean and having the ability to create piercing tone using minimum of breath. Bartoli has a modern voice trained to sound bigger and more majestic, but also more breathy and damped. Deutekom was one of loudest soprano ever, while Bartoli's voice isn't the best one for large halls. Sorry for my English

  • @tomasburi Well...what does an old article tell us when we have those recordings on which we hear that she does not sing 'coup de glotte' as described by Garcia? One of her pupils wrote on a forum somewhere that she did it with her diaphragm. Also I don't here any 'aspirate'. If it where some sort of technique, than any other singer should be able to do just that. The point with Deutekom is that no one else (in recording history) has ever produced such an effect.
