An excerpt of the Peking opera percussion workshop at Wesleyan on the Oct. 27, 2008. The ensemble includes Alec McLane (small gong), Joy Lu (cymbals), Joseph Getter (big gong), and Po-wei Weng (single-skinned drum). It is led by Po-wei Weng, a PhD candidate and adjunct faculty member at Central Connecticut State University. The clip includes a brief intro of the instruments, a short demonstration of the "oral notation" of the percussion patterns, and the percussion performance. For further information about the leader, See https://pwengweb.wesleyan.edu ; about the conference and the workshop, see http://sem2008.blogs.wesleyan.edu/workshops/

This is very good; thank you for putting it on YouTube. Do you have any videos showing the technique of the guban (paiban + bangu)?

Thanks for your nice words. Unfortunately, I don't have any video about the bangu. I will let you know if I get any.
