@Ephistrophy I used to play the original version by James Scott on the piano, back in my ragtime days. It's a true classic, but I certainly like Jelly's interpretation of it too.

The wrong photo. This photo shows the Red Hot Peppers of the 1920s. Climax Rag was recorded in 1939 with a pick-up group. This was the first jazz record I ever heard. I was eleven. I'd never heard music like this before. It knocked me for six. Still does.
