Video games are another form of storytelling and escapism. However games like Call of duty and battlefield are utter crap, games like Mass Effect, Bioshock, The elder scrolls are all proof that video games can be decent pieces of entertainment.

The reason why video games are such big business these days, is because there are more pussies on the planet these days, people who seek refuge in their ego`s dreams, where they dont have to face up to how small they are lol. I`m referring only to those gamers who kill a game for hours solid and substitute reality for bullsh*t

I love hi-octane action, i love war type stories. But i just cant commit to playing a single video game for a single second! Theyre a tedious, matrix-like prison which, whether by design or otherwise, distract you from life and will likely disintegrate your social life, stunt your real word skills and make your girlfriend leave you! Theyre for sad nerdy maladjusted types who i would blow away in combat in a second...& i`m a fucking sissy!

@sulijoo 'I saw a guy play it' immediately your opinion becomes invalid. COD games are a great experience keeping the player incredibly tense and fun exploding things but when you reflect you do realise how shallow and repetitive the experience was, same with HALO...

Not saying that i agree or disagree with what is being said but, just because someone does something it does not make them an expert on their moral implications.
It could be argued that because Charlie enjoys video games he has a stake in their continuation and therefore is predisposed to argue against moral panic.
I don't think you can argue that Charlie is more or less an authoritative force on the moral implications of video games than anyone else. Morality is relative.
Give Kermode and Brooker their own TV show. Hell, if Simon Mayo ever leaves wittertainment behind, just replace him with Charlie Brooker.
