Moscow to pick up pieces of Georgian Memorial

The monument destroyed by authorities in the Georgian city of Kutaisi last week could be rebuilt in the Russian capital. That's the suggestion put forward by Prime Minister Putin. The Soviet war memorial was demolished on Saturday to clear way for a new parliament building. A woman and her daughter died during the work. The incident sparked condemnation in Georgia and abroad. The Georgian diaspora in Russia also want to see the monument restored on the Russian soil, saying both countries fought side by side during the second world war.
