A john Wayne movie I have never seen or heard of.

Same here actually only I need to watch it for my film studies class. :)

Somehow it stands out even more in black and white, but the silences and shadows in the bar toward the end when the brothers are waiting tells us that at his height John Ford was visual storyteller of the first rank, up there with Kurosawa. I don't think there's anybody on the landscape nowadays that could compete, except MAYBE Hayao Miyazaki and John Lasseter. It gives me chills watching this.

Epic. Another scene that reminded me of Liberty Valance was the one where Wayne walks away from camera down the alley at night. The actor playing Gatewood was Berton Churchill? He actually looked a little bit like Winnie. The guy playing humble little Peacock, the whiskey vendor, was called Meek, which is just too coincidental.

Beautiful Claire Trevor played so many hard boiled, cold blooded roles it was nice to see her as the sympathetic Dallas, kicked around a lot but still human and vulnerable.Thanks.

Thank you for uploading this movie! I had to watch this movie for a class I'm taking on the Western genre, and I couldn't find it anywhere else. Great movie :)
