North Carolina State Forest representative accelerating a controlled burn that took place last Thursday, March 3, 2011 @ McDowell Nature Preserve. Almost 50 acres were burnt as a part of McDowell's Prairie Restoration project maintaining and assisting in the survival of the Piedmont Prairie ecosystem. Natural Resources staff supervised the blaze that lasted long into the night.
