In 1990 Ken Branagh chose to play three different Shakesperian roles under direction of three great classic actors...he asked Sir Derek Jacobi to direct his first attempt as "Hamlet". These are parts of the documentary "Discovering Hamlet"...

Thanks for the great upload. Do you know if this staging of Hamlet was filmed, and if so where it might be found? I'd love to see the whole thing, to see how Branagh differs when directed by Jacobi vs directed by himself.

I love this...love the process and right away you feel that Derek Jacobi is on stage acting right there with Ken...amazing seeing how they worked it all out and how really good Branagh was back then...so young. Derek's coaching just perfected the whole performance. He is brillant; and so is KB.

I think I see your point, but I've always respected what he says :"I'm an actor, I act". Tha's very humble and wise. I guess he mostly chooses what he loves when it comes to stage, what he likes for tv roles and what they offer for cinema...unless specific, lucky cases...
