In 1793, as England prepares for war with France, young Horatio Hornblower reports for duty aboard the battleship Justinian. His welcome to the Kings Navy is harsh, however, as the sadistic midshipman Simpson takes an instant dislike to the young sailor.

Transferred to the Indefatigable when war erupts, Hornblower proves his mettle in combat and catches the eye of the captain. But his career is threatened when they come upon the flaming wreckage of the Justinian and Simpson is among the survivors. On a vital mission, Simpsons treachery nearly costs Hornblower his life, and a final showdown is inevitable.

Starring Ioan Gruffud as Hornblower. Based on the novels by C.S. Forester. All rights reserved to A&E--I own nothing. Description taken from the back of the DVDs.

  • You're welcome, my dear! :D

  • Oh Simpson...he is such a jerk but I have to say the actor playing Mr. Simpson is damn good. I love Horatio Hornblower so much. I sill wonder how at the end he manages to put his arm behind his back after being shot.

  • *nods* That's the great thing about this series--the villians are awesome. I hate and love 'em all. XD

  • @Bramblefox Simpson is really one dimensional, he's created much better in the books.

  • 1:48 looks like me bowling

  • That was one hell of a sniper shot from Pelluw. Especially with a musket, considering it could rarely hit the side of a barn on a good day.

  • @Darthbelal Thank you. I've been asking and asking that question. it's one of those things that bug you. :) Songs

  • @Songsmirth the armbands are to distinguish friend from foe during action aboard the Papillon. In the dark during the heat of battle, it can be rather hard for the sailors and Marines to tell who is who.....

  • @jland3622 Capt. Pellew is a hard-ass, but he's fair and brave. I look up to him myself.......

  • @gardenfreak1000 that made me laugh as well, I love the protocol and their manners.
