This knife designed by former SWAT Team Sniper Lance Abernathy and forged by American Bladesmith Society member Judy Muller from 1095. Blade has hamon - result of differential tempering. This is another high performer from my collection. This is excellent demonstrastion that it is not steel but skill of maker what matter for high quality.

This good old simple carbon cheap 1095 steel performs way ahead of most "commonly accepted" super steels, but you for this Jody Muller need to do his forge magic.

From the design point of view - it is pretty ergonomic knife, comfortable in many grips, blade is full flat grind, pretty wide. Lock side of the handle - titanium and opposite side - orange G10 (by my request - I like well visible tools). Fit and finish very good (Judy has jewelir background as well).

It require bit more attention - due to carbon steel, I did not get used to constantly monitor blade to prevent corrosion but so far I did not get into much troubles, because of this.

I did sharpening demo 2 years ago, please, check my older videos here.

  • By now, Vasilli, your defining signature is the hair whittling at the end of the video.

Is this blade convexed? Undoubtedly, not this sharp out of the box but by your legendary sharpening technique. About how much for this knife?

Blade has flat grind. Edge has curved shoulders to decrease frictions, but on the very edge it is 30 degree. Free hand sharpening always make edge bit convexed, especially with following honing on leather.

Price was over $500. Dealing with Jody and Lance was my best experience with custom knifemakers. Initially this money I saved for different knife, but after over year of frustration dealing with other guy, I take my chance with Sniper Blade and very happy about this.

  • Great sharpening demo!!! i viewed all your sharpening videos and took a look at some of your other knife videos. Great stuff!! keep them coming.

  • love that music. Is that Balalaika?

  • Sweet knife. I like 1095 a lot. My knife with this steel has developed a deep patina after cutting acidic foods, but it hasn't rusted one bit. All I do is wipe it clean after each use. I will start to use mineral oil to better protect the metal, though.
