to get the soft landing, when you jump from downdog, put more into the jump than you think you'll need - aim to over jump your hands and angle the arms forward slightly, then you will have an easier time aligning our hips over your hands and controlling your feet to the ground. You should practice utanasana so that your back and legs can stay as straight as possible when you do this.

Very graceful, great job!!

haha if I were flexible enough I would think of trying...

I've heard that the "soft landing" is best achieved by forward loading your hands and pushing your hips over your shoulders as much as possible. So try kicking from down dog to a handstand pike and you'll get the feeling, though you'll still need her great forward fold to do the full soft landing. Great job Kathryn!
Kathryn,
I'm "envious" of your soft landing from downdog to standing forward fold! What suggestions do you have on how best to develop the core to achieve this control? :-)
