what are you using as the basis for universal morality?

Who are you, as an atheist, to say that child molesters and rapers are "bad"?

@QUEENxOFxSKA Wow. Do you honestly think people are incapable of reason and morality without whatever particular "holy" rule book you follow? That's a staggerinly low view of humanity. I think much of the problem of violence is due to belief that morality isn't personal, but dictated by some authority.

Most people naturally tend to morality, children sense what is fair or cruel behavior. Moral ideas are universals, not specific to a religion. Universally Preferable Behavior, see Molyneaux

@comeonfolks Read "nice guys finish first" by Rishard Dawkins. Morality is an evolved trait which is scientifically shown to benefit us individually and as a species. Pretty easy to figure it out.

@QUEENxOFxSKA well as a christian without god you cannot come to your own conclusions about what is right and wrong. like many christians say they would kill if god didn't tell them not to, well they don't belong in a free society. seriously thats pathetic and lazy.

Most times it not the god but rather a persons wants,desires that let them convene themselves that it is the will of their god that they do this thing or that.

@leafwatch Does morality actually exists, I mean, I know of not one scientific test that has been performed to show the existence of morality. What is the scientific logic behind cruelty? Perhaps, since cruelity cannot be examined by science,it is a false concept.

@QUEENxOFxSKA I think atheists have a real bad contradiction. They don't believe in God because there is no scientific evidence, yet they believe morality exists. Well, where is the scientific evidence for the existence of morality. In other words, an atheist cannot say Hitler was evil because there is no scientic that supports the idea that evil exists. An atheist cannot say that they are moral because where is the scientific evidence to show what morality is?

@vrghiks Obvious how comforting it is for some to believe that there is someone looking over us. Especially when we no longer have the comfort of our loving nurturing parents. We struggle to find something that can give us the security we felt as children when our parents watched over us. This, is the curse (no supernatural insinuation here) humans must deal with until we evolve intellectually. This life can be overwhelming and cruel, and religion has all the answers. I refuse to settle for this
