it looks too new. for a lewis flick to work, it has to look DATED. the fashions, cars, & trashy florida location all needed to be filmed in the early 60's on eastman color. the camp value for viewers over the last 20 years has been because you got to go back to a less developed time in american history. the whole "time machine" effect of the originals has been lost. plus, the new movie's film stock isn't beat up or aged enough. never shoulda done it. and the actors are annoying in the wrong way.
