  • Hardly. KMT still had a big-ass advantage after WWII. You said it yourself - the KMT was corrupt as hell, so the CCP won. Sure Mao had the Japanese weapons, but that was 1. the KMT's fault for not securing them first and 2. inferior to American stuff anyways.

Anyways,I found this series to give a pretty fair portrayal to the KMT. It makes the point that individual commanders were quite competent, it was a matter of top level leadership sucking. The book makes it even more explicit.

  • Oh, if y'all should definitely read the book if you can. It's ten times better than the tv series, and the tv series already kicks ass.

  • Cease the flame war. Does it really matter which political party rules the nation, as long as the nation is rising under that party's rule?

CCP, KMT, we're all Chinese here. Shouldn't be fighting each other.

  • I only like chinese

  • This show is the best. It shows that the how brave the Eigth Route Army was. They fought against heavily armed Japs with swords, knives, and bayonets, and they still won.

  • Titration FTW !!!!

  • @MasterZhang 其實你說的都是假的。

  • 過去的事過去了,咱們現在要做的是強國!

  • i watched this drama a couple years ago... i would like to know where to find it so i can watch it again =)

  • Red flags flutter, bugles sound, swords (already) unsheathed, thunder rumbles and lightning flashes

When enemies meet, it is always the brave that is the victor

    Advance! Advance! Advance! Advance!

Advance, Chinese fighting (literally military) spirit!

  • @bimuyux

That was an epic translation fail.

    Here's a much better one:

    If our motherland is invaded,

Hot-blooded sons (of China) become self-reliant (literally self-strong)

Drink this bowl of homemade wine, the strong, once going (to battle), will not return

Cross the Yellow (River), cross the Yangtze, give me life and give me strength

Let the crimson blood stain the most beautiful flowers, and spill on my chest

  • Relax mate. It's pretty obvious this guy is Chinese, and translated his Chinese to English because the title of this clip is partly English.

  • Utter BS.

    "Let xianxue ran into the..."?

What the crap? Xianxue Ran isn't an english phrase, it means "let the crimson blood stain..."

    "unsheathed jian yi"?!?!

The lyrics are "jian yi chu xiao", that translates to "the sword is already unsheathed".

Your grammar is terrible, by the way. Online translators aren't the best, eh?
