clint mansell is an incredible composer, same with philip glass. BUT, there's no need to chew out pop music, i mean do you people know how popular lux aeterna is? it just seems hopeless that people hear a beautiful song like this, with a tear going down one cheek, have an epiphany, and the next thing they do is go to the comments and type lady gaga is a fagzor! i mean, if her music helps anyone at all in life, than it's art. whether we like it or not. open mindedness anyone?

@Makedonwow I do wish you peace, but negativity never gets people anywhere. If someone wants to listen to King Crimson, the Wu-Tang clan, Morrisey, and then some Katy Perry, I consider that open minded. The bottom line is, that person is appreciating more art than the individual who closes off their options because of this false idea of musical exclusivity in a community made up of ironic pessimists.

@ManifestPanda There's no "cool kids club" sure, but like you CAN tell the difference between Messi and John Doe in football, so you can for music. I respect subjectivity but some things are objective wether we like it or not.

I generally dislike haters, but some things can't be left to run rampart or they consume us all. Haters have their purpose. ;)

@Makedonwow i didn't imply you listened to anything, that's why i asked you what you listened to. Clint isn't exactly an underground gem that no one has ever heard of, he's not playing small clubs to a die hard fan base. His music got around the same way pop music does, and it became popular. You like some good songs, good for you. But there is no "cool kids club" when it comes to music. We're all being marketed to, even hipsters.

@ManifestPanda I was listening to greek folk music, mate. You see, when you build your theories about someone on a wrong basis, your entire theorem goes down the hatch. And how can you even dare to label a type of music as music for 'kids who are discovering music'? That's such an incredible hypothesis.

All that shit-pop you mention (without saying that all pop is shit) is not art. It's a temporary something spawned on the tomb of money and fame, as most modern creations are.

@Makedonwow When you were ten years old, what were you listening to? The pop demographic is very young, that music isn't targeted towards people who like indie rock. or folk, or trance. It's for kids who're discovering music for the first time. It's easy to notice the mediocrity being broadcast over the radio and on television, but it's much harder to sacrifice this idea of the self, this "intellectual superiority" and appreciate the art you do connect with.

@ManifestPanda There's a very thin line between open mindedness and willingly turning a blind eye towards modern 'life's' decay. Call them 'ends' of a circle, if you will.
