PC isn't an OS it stands for personal computer and is a general term that these days stands for non-apple hardware....

of coarse i meant windows, but in general people see pc as windows so it was simpler to put it as that term

@MrWuzzo ...that are of amazing quality, ubuntu is very customisable, beautiful, fast (yes I know i said that already ;-) ), and Ubuntu is completely FREE. No catches. Windows 7: lots of programs THAT YOU ARE USED TO (anything can be done with either operating system), compatible with any peripheral you can buy out of the box, you need to tweak sometimes with strange peripherals for Ubuntu and you get private company tech support. NOTE: running Ubuntu without install is slower than installed.

@MrWuzzo Linux distribution (distro for short) I recomment Ubuntu. Simpily go to ubuntu.com and download it to a USB. Then you can run it for a while without installing it to see if you like it. Support for Ubuntu is amazing - there's a whole community behind you, join a support forum and use google and it'l be at least as good as W, probably better. Quick list of Ubuntu vs W= Ubuntu is fast (startup time 30 seconds), don't need antiviurs software, lots of free opensource programs available...

@MrWuzzo Technically, how the system works is massivly different, but as an end user you don't really need to know that. Basically, as far as linux vs windows (I have never used a mac) goes in my experience the main difference you'll encounter is that W uses a complete different (but not superior) set of programs to L. Example: W = microsoft office, L = libreoffice/openoffice + others; W = windows media player, L = totem movie player, banshee (music) + others. If you want to try an excellent...

@mrgamer705 You sholdn't really call it MAC VS PC VS LINUX if you haven't even used linux... you should name it Mac VS Windows. I'm an Ubuntu user and I love it. Running W7 on the same machine (for itunes for my ipod only) and all I can say is ubuntu is faster, more customisable and just more fun to use... and the programs available for it are AMAZING quality (apart from games). Haven't used mac OS so can't comment on it... But I am open minded... I'd buy a mac if i could for its quality build.

really linux has more compatibility than windows, you can run modern linux on and older computer but not windows without it being slow

Try Linux it is very easy. All you do is download a live CD and burn it. The live CD lets you try it without installing it (It is slower though).

There are 100's if not 1,000's of popularity Linux distribution... There are even Linux for the PS3, and DS... Pixar, Google, and Sony all use Linux. Google chrome OS is based on Linux... There is even a Linux Cell Phone that is as good as the iPhone "ELSE First Linux Smartphone"

Linux Ubuntu , or Linux Mint , or openSUSE, Fedora, Gentoo, Debian, Slackware ... 1,000's more like ... mythbuntu, and linuX-gamers, or damnsmalllinux.

It comes with over 5,000 programs for free including Blender3D.
