The Spanish-Mexican tenor sings Tamino's aria from Mozart's "Magic flute". I post this more because of the aria (I love it!) than because of Domingo. For me, Wunderlich remains The best Tamino. Domingo's German is pretty good.

  • Thank you very much for posting, I have listen more because of Domingo than because of the aria ;-))) I simply love him singing in German... But I completely share your admiration for the great Fritz Wunderlich. Greetings, Esther :-)

  • You're welcome...and thanks Esther!

  • @SogniAzzurri You're welcome...and thanks Esther!

  • This Domingos rendition gives me hope, maybe i too can survive with this piece in audition with my lirico-spinto voce....I think Tamino is the only Mozart role which suits all kinds of tenorfachs. At least at the beginnig of the career. This Domingos effortless version is great proof of it! (Of course there is no better than Wunderlich.)

  • I would love to be able to sing this aria...too high for me

This sounds great, I almost don't hear an accent!!

Saludos.

  • Domingo is a perfeccionist!!!! Wow!!! His voice has textures he was born that way. With a voice that intimidates any other tenor on earth!!

  • @1Ooppera Wunderlich is miles apart from Domingo ;)

  • @iddybiddygiddy I agree, Domingo is here not even as bad as he usually is!. He reaches for sure the upper side of middle class. IMO Domingo was a lyric tenor with a short range who, in order to survive in a world which did not require too many high tones, pushed his voice to dramatic, therefore I don't see in this rendition any "short of miraculous" case.

  • I admire Placido's voice anyday, anytime! The best tenor tone so far....

  • @tudoranghelina91 No, Domingo is singing the most beautiful tenor-aria very artificial!

Domingo may be a great tenor. He cannot stand to Fritz Wunderlich's Tamino!

Fritz Wunderlich is and will ever be "my" Tamino! :D
