SAR Iroquois Winch Training 06-12-08

Volunteer SAR (Search And Rescue) members from Taumarunui, Ohakune, Wellington get their yearly "certification" for winching and hover loading with 3 Squadron, RNZAF at Base Ohakea near Palmerston North.

Due to the fine, hot weather we weren't winching with full kit but we did practice winching and hover loading with packs during the day as well.

Great video thanks for taking me back to ohakea, havent been there in a long time. Yeah music would have ruined this vid, that awesome whop whop of the iroquoi blade is all you need to here. Will be sad to see these machines go....

Absolutely, there's nothing quite like the thud of a Iroquois or four, at any time of the day or night! Its worth being woken up for, one of the perks of living near a RNZAF base, LOL!
