And as far as any books he could recommend, he's 100% right, find a great teacher. Of course, talent helps, too. I studied with THREE great teachers, Joe Carbone, Don Arnone and Billy Bauer, I still sucked...lol.

It is a hybid recording, part Vibroverb amp and acoustic picked up by the camera mic. Johnny told me he used an ampeg with the speaker facing straight up in the air for live gigs once. I don't know how he recorded in the studio, but it sure sounds great.

Hi, Thanks for the comment,
I learned from three sources, a good teacher for the basics, listening to older jazz as well as all types of guitarists, and good books like Chord Chemistry by Ted Greene. My jazz playing and writing is more what folks have termed "Garage Jazz" since it incorporates different styles, latin, surf, etc under the jazz roof. I like Chet Atkins as well as Andy Summers. I'll be posting more later this summer.
