Motorsport artist Beacham Owen and Birgit Owen do a sketch on the David Letterman show -- bashing New York restaurants. The Owens were brought back the next night along with comic Richard Lewis (Larry David - Curb Your Enthusiasm) when Dave's famous velcro skit ran long. They were shown in the green room with Lewis discussing his pals' Jerry Seinfeld and Jay Leno's Porsche, ferrari and motorcycle collections. They were then asked to appear with Howard Stern the following night. Chris Elliott and head writer Steve O'Donnell (now with Jimmy Kimmel) helped them with the sketch according to an article in Aaron Barnhart's TV Barn. BTW: Stern's and Norm MacDonald's buddy Artie Lange was 17 and playing sports in high school at the time.

  • im pretty sure that was Madeline Kahn.

  • Who was the first guest? And what did Beacham say that had Dave punching his hand?

  • The old NBC shows were being re-broadcast on TRIO for a few years, but I think the cable network no longer exist. Back in the 80s, I used to tape the Letterman NBC 12:30 AM shows and watch them at more convenient times.

  • Thanks for posting something from the NBC days, i have never seen any of this, cheers

  • I remember this show from the 80s...what a hoot.
