There are several morals for young children in this story:
(1) Just because tigers look cute, doesn't mean they have a sense of social responsibility.
(2) But they do know how to use tin openers (this is a technical skill, not a social one.)
(3) Tigers also ignore societal norms and customs that suggest they should eat little children whenever they get the chance.
(4) In a strongly patriarchic society, most problems are resolved (whether with good or bad consequences) by daddy coming home.
