@Teeninchee There's also something else. Michael English fell away for a time. If you really want to know what happened, you can look it up. But he gave up on God when Christians gave up on him.
He came back to the Lord after several years, but it was even longer before he was welcomed back into Christian music. (We have a tendency to be even more heartless and unforgiving than sinners.)
Now he sings with the passion of the redeemed.

Finally, someone tells it like it is. In the past, Michael English was just performing, putting on a show, touting his talents. I have knocked him in the past but I have to admit he's so much better now that he's put God into his music. Guy Penrod had always been so God-centered and it's shown. For that reason alone, if for nothing else, Guy is #1.

They are all so awesome, but the best change from the past is Guy Penrod. I'm sorry some of you think different, but Michael English can't hold a mike stand to Penrod, and never could. It's not just the quality of voice, because those are probably KINDA close, but English never seemed to feel what he was singing, and later proved it in his life. Guy is so genuine, and it shows in every song he does. He believes, and lives, what he sings.

Mark has a great voice. Awesome.

People need to stop comparing Guy Penrod to Michael English. That is a ridiculous argument. If you want to say that Michael English can't sing like he used to, that is fine. His voice has obviously changed a lot. But when he was in his prime he actually "the lead" for the gaithers. He put out solo albums both secular and gospel that showcase a one and a million voice. I am not going to knock Guy Penrod but this whole "dream line up" of him as lead is so crazy.

@hoover4000...thx for the comment about people saying Michael's voice isn't what it used to be. There IS a change in the spirit that he now sings with. In one of his testimonies he said he asked God to give him something to talk about. I believe God answered through his life struggle. There is a new DEPTH in his singing that I missed before. He had song/performance without experience--he knew it. I LOVE THE NEW MiKE more and more every time I hear him.

The Atlanta Homecoming & Singing At The Dome r 2 of my fav videos from this group of the GVB. Add to that the I Believe Video & I'm a happy camper. That being said, I luv the new GVB! Wes, Michael, DAvid, Mark & Bill are fantastic together. The Reunited CD is one of the best there is. The blend & harmony is awesome. And Mark Lowry can sing anything he wants 2, in anyway he wants 2, because he is adorable, and his voice gives me goosebumps, now & back then!
I absolutely love the way Mark sings in this song!
